Deepcut 12 is a sealed subwoofer built for music. A sealed alignment trades a few dB of deep output for noticeably tighter transient behaviour and lower group delay than a comparable ported box.
The cabinet is deliberately small and heavily braced — a stiff, dead box is what keeps a sealed sub sounding clean at level.
Why sealed
Lower group delay than a ported box of the same driver
Gentle 12 dB/octave rolloff that often integrates well with room gain
No port noise or chuffing at high excursion
