Review a build you built

Review another builder's published Build Guide after building or seriously testing the project. Choose whether you would build it again, add your own photos and explain the result, then submit the review for moderation.

Before you start

Sign in and open the published build you followed. Reviews are available for builds with a Build Guide. A Showcase without a guide does not accept a build review, and you cannot review your own build.

Have at least one photo of your own build ready. You can add up to nine photos in PNG, JPG or WebP format, up to 8 MB each. Choose photos that show the work you are describing. A review requires both a verdict and written feedback.

You have one review per build. Return to that review when your experience changes or you have more to add.

Steps

1. Open the build's review editor. For a new review, confirm I have built or seriously tested this project. Base the review on your own attempt and make clear how much of the project you completed.
2. Answer Would you build it again? with Yes, Maybe or No. This is the rating. There are no separate star ratings for sound quality, difficulty or value.
3. Add at least one photo under Photos. Use Add photos for additional images, up to the nine-photo limit. Drag the photos into the order that best explains your build.
4. Write Your review. Describe what you built, how the work went, how it sounds and what the next builder should know. Explain the reason for your verdict. If you changed parts or only completed part of the project, say so.
5. Check the verdict, text and photos together, then choose Submit review. Your first submission goes to moderation and is not public while waiting.

What happens next

Once published, the review shows your name, date, written feedback and photos alongside the verdict. Yes appears as “Would build again”, Maybe as “Might build again”, and No as “Wouldn't build again”. Readers can open the photos for a closer look.

Signed-in readers can mark a published review helpful. Each account has one helpful vote per review; selecting it again removes that vote. You cannot mark your own review helpful. A helpful vote indicates useful feedback and does not change the review's build-again verdict.

To edit a published review, open it and choose Edit. Change your verdict, text or photos, then choose Update review. A published review stays published when you save these changes; the edit does not create a second review or return it to the initial moderation queue.

A pending review uses Update submission and remains pending. If a review was returned, update it and choose Resubmit review to send it back for moderation. Check the message in the editor to see which state applies.

Common mistakes

• Reviewing an idea you have not built or seriously tested. Use the review to report direct experience.
• Submitting a verdict without explaining it. Give the next builder enough context to understand your result.
• Leaving out photos or adding images that do not show your own build.
• Starting another review to add a later finding. Edit the existing review instead.
