The Listener Choose a flair to explain why you are posting, and link a published build when it provides context. The thread author can mark one reply as the answer. Votes, saved threads and the Solved badge serve different purposes.
Why it matters
A flair helps other builders recognise the kind of discussion before opening it. A linked build supplies the project context. An accepted answer points to the reply the thread author chose, while a vote records a reader's response to a thread or reply.
Use these controls for the information each one carries. A clear question and a relevant build link help someone answer without first asking which project you mean.
How it works
Pick one Flair when you compose a thread:
- Question is for asking for help or an answer.
- Showcase is for showing what you made.
- Meme is for sharing a meme.
- Off-topic is for discussion outside the build subjects.
- Site feedback is for feedback about Bassilisk itself.
The flair describes your reason for posting. It does not select a build category. Its label and icon appear in the feed, and the forum navigation lets readers filter by flair.
Use Link a build to enter a Bassilisk build URL, a path such as /builds/your-build, or its slug. The build must be published. The thread then appears in that build's discussion section. You can link another author's build as well as your own.
Only the thread author can choose Mark answer on a live reply. One answer is accepted at a time; choosing another clears the previous selection. Solved means the author has selected an answer. It does not close the discussion or stop further replies.
Choose Unmark to clear the accepted answer and the Solved state. Removing an accepted reply also clears the thread's Solved state. An upvote does not mark an answer automatically.
Sign in to use Upvote on a thread or reply. Selecting the same control again removes your vote. Downvotes are currently disabled. Use Save to add a thread to your personal Saved list in the forum navigation; select it again to remove it from that list.
What to check
Before posting, check the title, flair, opening text and linked build. A Showcase flair on a forum thread does not create a build page. Use the build editor when you want to publish a Showcase or Build Guide.
Use Edit thread to change your thread's title, flair, linked build, opening text or title image, then save the changes. Use Edit on your own reply to correct its text. Edited posts carry an edited marker. Moderators can also edit threads and replies.
Removal depends on whether the discussion already has live replies. If it has none, deleting your thread removes the whole thread from public view. If it has replies, deleting it removes your opening post while the thread and other replies remain.
You can remove your own reply. Its text is replaced by a removal notice, and replies nested beneath it stay readable. Moderators can remove any thread or reply and can restore removed content. Removal does not erase the retained moderation record.
Common mistakes
- Using the flair to identify the project instead of linking the build.
- Expecting the most-upvoted reply to become the accepted answer.
- Reading Solved as a locked thread or a moderator's technical endorsement.
- Expecting deletion of an opening post to erase other builders' replies.
